The holidays are upon us and this should evoke a time of peace and thanksgiving. So let’s all take a deep breath and make a vow that we are going to live in the moment and experience the love of friends, family and our God. Let’s say goodbye to the static of endless to-do lists and holiday prep that can detract from a meaningful season.
One way to do that is to plan ahead. Take a few minutes to make up a priority list and holiday schedule and then decide what is required to get it all done. If you are feeling overwhelmed then pare it down, delegate, and figure out what you can buy instead of make. There have been more than a few years that we have skipped the holiday greeting cards leaving more time for traditions we love to share with our kids and family (like making homemade candy and cakes!). And think about simplifying meals as well. Our Christmas Eve dinner is tortilla soup which is ready to go when we get home from evening church service. Add some steamed tamales and you are good to go!
We also plan ahead for gifts to friends & family, focusing on a crowd pleaser we can order early. This year we are loving the new me&re design stag horn cups. They look so festive in classic cherry red or in one of our beautiful metallics. These are a welcome gift especially paired with hot chocolate mix.
Slow down and ENJOY – wishing you a peaceful, safe and blessed holiday season!
